Who are you and what is your role in the Coventry University Group?
Hi, I’m Simon Beard, Head of Library and Learning Innovation at Coventry University London. I work with teams from across the group to deliver library services, learning technology, along with language, academic and professional skills to our customers (staff and students) in London. the most important part of my job being collaboration with all staff in London and teams across the group.
Something else about yourself?
Live in Essex with a grown-up family, and a 2-year-old grandson. Spend lots of time pottering around the house (an old house always needs work doing) and the garden.
Eurovision Song Contest geek. Been to contests in Birmingham, Riga, Helsinki and Oslo. Hoping to be lucky to get tickets in the future, perhaps Italy in 2022!!
Something you learnt during the pandemic or something you started (or stopped) doing that you would like to keep doing (or not doing)
I love working in London, the buzz, diversity, history, but not having an hour each way commute from Essex every day has been great. I was reminded of this recently when I left work at 17.30 and got home at 21.30 after a trespasser on the line caused numerous delays and cancellations to my train service.
